TO THE GOOD PEOPLE
To the GOOD PEOPLE of Giles County, the optimistic ones, those who see the future as something bright and worth capturing, those who love their children, grandchildren, their neighbor, their God, their country and this life they are blessed to live HERE in the Land of Milk and Honey…. I say to you, I’m here to lead, to LISTEN and to be diligent as I work hard to represent not only your best interest, but the best interest of your children and your legacy. I ask that you help me invest in Giles County. I ask that you support me as I help YOU invest in Giles County. I ask that you choose the path of resistance and hard work… the path of gain and results.
If you agree that Giles County is worth investing in even if part of that investment comes from deeper within your own wallet… even if that investment comes from your own willingness to work for the greater good of Giles County, even if that investment comes at the stake of rattling friends and neighbors, then I ask that you make that investment. I ask that you invest in YOURSELF, YOUR LEGACY, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR GILES COUNTY!
Throughout my embattled upbringing, childhood, adulthood, fatherhood… throughout my professional, charitable and business endeavors, I have learned that you identify and adjust... you either grow or you die. Giles County is growing. That becomes more and more obvious every day. But that growth does not come without growing pains. It does not come without investing in infrastructure and revenue as we prepare to capitalize on the growth that comes to us.
Growth does not come without investing in services that are MANDATED by the State: Ambulance Service, Education, EMS, Roads and Bridges, the Courthouse, the Health Department, Law Enforcement (including the jail), Solid Waste Collection >>> all the things we rely on daily.
Progress does not come without capitalizing on the extraordinary positioning of our County as we sit at the crossroads of HWY 64 and I-65… as we have been endowed with one of four Universities in the UT System and a TCAT Campus that promises post secondary vocational excellence. UT Southern plans to build their enrollment to upwards of 5,000 students... What a great thing we did by passing the local option sales tax county wide so WE could benefit from that growing revenue stream!
"We stand on the shoulders of those before us. But, we have to occupy our inheritance for ourselves. We cannot forfeit this blessing!"
If we OURSELVES do not invest in Giles County, someone or some outside entity will… and it will not happen on our own accord. We must grow Giles County on OUR terms with vigor, with strategy, with positivity, with optimism, with courage and with sacrifice.
Time waits for no man. Time waits for no woman. Time waits for no group or bailout. We CANNOT afford to NOT pull ourselves up by our OWN boot straps. We must compete, invest, plan and grow this County ourselves - through our own financial responsibility.
If you have not been out of Giles County recently, then take a trip. Take a drive. Do yourself a favor and travel. Do yourself a favor and leave Giles County for a minute. Then do yourself a favor as you come back and open your eyes to see our beautiful, wonderful and amazing landscape!
